Instructor Development Course (IDC/IEC)
Our recent SDI Instructor Development Course (IDC) proved to be a huge success for three experience and enthusiastic divers who aspired to become scuba diving instructors. During the course, our candidates Ben, Sayeed and Thibaut were immersed in a comprehensive curriculum that covered everything from refining diving skills to understanding teaching methodologies.
Our Instructor Trainer Mike led them through the IDC which combined theoretical knowledge with practical hands-on experience. Candidates participated in interactive workshops, engaging discussions, and simulated teaching scenarios, all designed to cultivate their instructional prowess. With a focus on safety, communication, and leadership, the candidates developed the confidence and expertise needed to lead others in the captivating world of scuba diving.

Following the IDC, the candidates advanced to the Instructor Evaluation Course—an intense yet rewarding phase of their training. This stage tested their newfound abilities under the scrutiny of our experienced evaluators. The IEC included real-world teaching experiences, where candidates demonstrated their mastery of scuba instruction, adaptability, and decision-making skills.
Each candidate faced challenges that mirrored the unpredictable nature of the underwater realm. These challenges, however, were not deterrents but opportunities to showcase their ability to handle diverse situations with poise and expertise. As they guided their peers through dive skills all performed neutrally buoyant in confined and open water, emergency scenarios, and comprehensive academic lessons, their growth as instructors was undeniable.
